Our Coaches
Matt Homes
Matt is an ECB Level 3 and Coach ED Level 4 Elite qualified coach with over 20 years coaching within the game in addition to many years playing club cricket. This extends specifically to a vast amount of experience coaching in a 121 environment and currently works with players at performance level.
Damian Shirazi
Damian is the current Director of Cricket at Epsom College and very experienced ECB Level 3 coach working with players at all levels primarily at a performance level. He represented England at U14, U15, and U19 levels and played for Hampshire CCC at all levels, plus 2 years as a MCC Young Cricketer.
Tom Deighton
Tom is an ECB Level 2 coach and CoachED Level 4 Elite program qualified in addition to being an experienced club cricketer captaining the Ashtead 1st XI in the Surrey Championship Premier Division. He is the the 1st XI coach and Junior Head Coach at Ashtead CC overseeing 500 juniors in the various age groups. Tom is experienced in 121 coaching with an enthusiastic and engaging style working with younger players.
Tom Homes
Tom is an ECB Level 3 coach specialising in spin bowling and has built a great understanding working with younger players having come through the Surrey County age teams from u9 to being a contracted Academy player for 2 years. A left arm spinner Tom plays for Ashtead CC 1st XI and has represented Surrey 2nd XI throughout the 2017 season.
Paul Harrison
Paul is an ECB Level 3 coach with vast experience both playing and coaching. A contracted professional with Northants and Leicestershire, Paul now plays for Ashtead CC in the Surrey Championship Premier division. Paul’s expertise is in batting and wicketkeeping.
Gary Butcher
Gary has vast experience as a Level 3 coach working in a school environment and is the current 1st XI coach at Reigate Priory CC. A former 1st class cricketer with both Surrey and Glamorgan Gary comes from a cricketing family as brother of England Test player Mark Butcher. Gary primarily works with players at A team school level to performance level as a specialist coach.
Henry Thorpe
Henry has a fresh and dynamic outlook on the game and has a wealth of experience on his side having been coaching for 6 years and is an ECB Level 3 Coach. Henry has spent his early days as a coach working alongside senior coaches and plays for Maori Oxshott Cricket Club. Henry is a First-Class graduate from the University of Manchester. He is a graduate of the Academy when it first started in 2008
Mark Stoneman
Mark is a professional cricketer who plays for Middlesex CCC and made his international debut for England in August 2017 against Australia in an Ashes series. An opening left-handed batter Mark has vast knowledge and experience of the game. An ECB Level 3 Coach.
Sam Hunt
Sam has recently joined the team and is a young coach looking to progress a career in coaching full time. He plays for Ashtead CC where he pushed his way into the 1st XI in 2022 as a left arm seam bowler. He is ideal for someone looking to develop their game especially at the younger age ranges. Sam is a Level 2 qualified coach.
